MY NAME IS JOHN
(aka: Johnny b)
As a high school student in Mission Viejo, John Borroel would spend his after school hours driving through neighborhoods admiring different styles and designs in custom-built homes. He knew then he’d dedicate himself to creative construction.
He then went on to work alongside esteemed architects and designers in San Clemente and Costa Mesa. Together they worked on various projects in Orange County including custom homes and 6 story apartment complexes. In 1988, Borroel harnessed his design and building skills and became a licensed general contractor. In 1991 he expanded his range to include much of Southern California.
Borroel went on to design and build over a dozen custom homes in the Temecula, Murrieta, Fallbrook, Big Bear, and Santa Barbara areas—including a 170-acre Thoroughbred farm in the Santa Ynez Valley. The Santa Ynez project consisted of four custom homes, three mobile homes, and eleven barns; this ultimately prompted Borroel to move to Santa Ynez to raise his two daughters.
In 2011, with Borroel at the helm acting as both designer and contractor, the Thoroughbred ranch was transformed into an olive farm for the production of olive oil. The project required the repurposing of barns into a 9000 sq. ft. olive oil mill, tank storage and shipping facility. This encompassed implementing the wastewater treatment facility and, 60,000 gallon emergency fire suppression storage, as well as planting 35,000 olive trees.
Borroel has since completed design and build projects in Montecito, Santa Ynez, and Orange County and currently continues to work on several projects throughout southern California.
